The Story:
 

The car company Aston Martin has passed back into British hands. The Austin Motor Company was a  British manufacturer of automobiles that rose to be a major motorcar brand. Founded in 1914 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, Aston Martin turned out its first car in 1915. Ford bought a controlling stake in Aston Martin in 1987 and acquired full ownership in 1994.

The current American owner Ford said the car maker was being sold to a consortium consists of motorsport chief Dave Richards, John Sinders and the capital investment companies Investment Dar and Adeem Investment.

Dating back to 1914, the company has produced such vehicles as the DB5, the Vantage and the Virage and has always been seen as the stylish, quintessential British sports car firm.

Aston Martin cars’ have featured in a number of Bond movies. Actor Daniel Craig drove the DBS in "Casino Royale" and the first 007 — Sean Connery — drove an Aston Martin DB5 in the 1964 Bond movie "Goldfinger."

Versions of the car also appeared in a number of other 007 films, including "Thunderball," "The Living Daylights," "Goldeneye" and "Die Another Day."

Ford Motor Co. has sold a controlling stake in the Aston Martin brand raising $848 million to help fund its turnaround plan. Ford will retain a $77 million stake in the company.
